T.I.O. -Techniques Of Indirect Ophthalmoscopy

TIO is an ongoing project for the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

The purpose of the simulation is to train surgeons how to do proper Fundus drawings using the Indirect Ophthalmoscope. The purpose of a fundus drawing is to find and chart all the abnormalities on the retina before surgery.

In 1997 we released a CD-ROM on this subject using Macromedia Director. Currently we’re redoing the project using blender, after effects, Flash and Unity. In addition to the realtime 3D retina simulator, we will include several didactic animations explaining the history, theory and practice of the indirect Ophthalmoscope and fundus drawing.
